Welcome to Changing Times Diaper Company
March 3, 2014
WOW! Amazing. Totally unexpected. Record setting. Thank You. These are just a few words to describe how business continues to grow. February saw record sales as word continues to spread about our quality products at affordable prices. Many purchases are from individuals who are happy with our products and service. I am very excited to see new names as this tells me word is spreading through word-of-mouth or through various website about our quality products and service.
The most popular product this past month was our new contour diaper. Many individuals purchased one to check the fit. Several initially purchased two or four. Once satisfied, there were several individuals who purchased additional contour diapers. I believe the largest purchase was sixteen. This is far beyond any expectation.
My big fear was the pattern. If it was not correct then the diaper would fail. The manufacturer and I had very little to work with in the beginning but I believe we pulled it off. The limited feedback received so far is positive and I am looking for additional comments.
Feedback on the contour diaper would very much be appreciated as the manufacturer and myself would like to know if we are on the right track. Please visit the contour diaper page and click the link near the bottom of the page if you would like to leave your feelings about this new diaper. Here is what one loyal customer wrote about our diaper twill contour and pre-folds:
“Robert, I absolutely love the new Diaper Twill contour diapers! When I took them out of the box, I was a bit worried they might be a bit too small. That was not the case at all. They fit perfectly! After about 3 to 5 washings, the combo of diaper/stuffer hold a little more than one pre-fold for me. I have recommended it to other cloth wearing diaper users who are looking for a discreet cloth daytime diaper. Amazingly enough, I am finding those in the younger crowd who are becoming interested in cloth diapers in order to save money~ I never thought I would see the day. Most who are older and incontinent already know cloth is the way to go if you must wear 24/7... Plus they are far more comfortable when wet, and they 'tell' you when a change is needed.
Most of my original pre-folds are still in use today; years after I purchased them. How many uses, I have no clue, but I can give advice about getting the most out of the diapers you own: Line dry them if at all possible (inside or outside the house), THEN fluff them up for 1/2 hour on air cycle in the dryer. When I do that, I get 1/3 or less total lint in the dryer screen than I would have if just using the dryer. One must remember the lint caught in that screen is diaper material now separated from the diaper and gone forever, which over time, means less and less absorption. No wonder those old gauze diapers I had as a kid held up for so long. They were all line dried. No in home' dryers much back then...”
Our InControl (Gary Mfg.) vinyl pants continue to be the most popular waterproof pant we offer. A new order arrived last week and now available are 7mm comfort snap-on pants and original high waist pant with 1” elastic at the waist and legs. A new order is already in at Gary Mfg. and includes the 7mm pull-on comfort high waist pant. This style should be available later this month.
I am awaiting word from KINS about our new waterproof taffeta pull-on pants and bibs. The taffeta is a very durable lightweight material. These pants were very popular in the past and quickly sold-out. Unfortunately I lost my source for the material but after numerous Internet searches was able to find a new supplier. I will call KINS today to get an update as I am anxious for the pants to arrive.
Our pull-on and snap-on PUL pants continue to gain popularity as word spreads about these comfortable and were waterproof pants. Many find PUL a great alternative to vinyl as the material breathes and is much more comfortable in hot weather. PUL is very durable as it was designed for use in hospitals and can withstand high dryer temperatures.
Several of the PUL pants continue to be in limited supply or sold-out. It is impossible to keep every print/color, style and size in stock at all times. The main reason is I purchase the material and send it to Babykins (KINS) in Canada. I inform KINS as to what styles and sizes are needed and then it’s a matter of waiting for the new pants to arrive. It was easy to keep the Bumkins print pants in stock as they supplied the material. Having to supply the material puts me at a disadvantage as it takes extra time to ship the material from my supplier to KINS. Please know that I am doing the best to keep these pants in stock.
Many are finding the Boingo fasteners a great alternative to diaper pins and Snappis. Several new colors were added to our site. Voltage green seems to be a popular choice and it looks as though a new order with the distributor will need to be placed this week. New colors also include disco glitter, outrageous orange and purple rain. Unfortunately punky pink was discontinued by the manufacturer and there are only nine packages available at our site. Please do not wait too long to order if this is one of your favorite colors.
Another record set last month was reaching a milestone of 500 individuals receiving our newsletter. Will I ever be as popular as Adult Cloth Diaper, LL Medico, Fetware or Baby-Pants to name a few? Probably not but I am definitely holding my own at this point. It’s taken several years to build our business through word-of-mouth and I could not be more pleased from the positive comments received through email.
What I would like is more time to answer the many emails I receive throughout the week. Many times, time is not on my side and it’s hard just to let individuals know their orders were shipped. The majority of packages and boxes go via priority mail and notification is sent from USPS with the delivery confirmation number and shipping date. At times, this is the only notification an individual will receive to let them know their order is on the way. However, I will send an email to let individuals know their order were sent when using first class mail, parcel post, and on selected occasion, UPS.
Our shipping calculator continues to be temperamental. Some orders are right on the penny, some a little low or high, while others are not even in the ballpark. Sometimes this is good for the customer as they receive a discount on the shipping. Other orders are well over the shipping estimate which results in a refund through PayPal. I continue to work this issue. Please feel free to contact me if you have a question about the shipping estimate when placing your order.
I am always looking for something new to add to our site. A possibility down the line are pull-on diapers made with diaper twill. A pattern will be needed and I may have a possible lead in order to move this project forward. As I have stated in the past, space is limited at this point but we need to continue to expand our line of products in order to be competitive. A pull-on diaper is one idea. Another product being investigated are adult onesies.
KINS has nice onesies but they prefer to be the sole source for their products which I support. I am actively looking for a source as most likely many are using Chinese manufacturers for their onesies. This is not my first choice as Chinese manufacturers have minimum purchase amount which are unrealistic. This is the main reason I have avoided manufacturers from China. I will continue to look for a manufacturer which is suitable to our requirements. Any leads will be greatly appreciated.
As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about our products or service. I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner.
